Cornell & Dartmouth Remain in National Polls

ALBANY, NY – ECAC Hockey features two teams in the latest national USCHO.com poll, released Monday, February 28 and the most recent USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, released Tuesday, March 1. Cornell remains in the No. 2/2 position slot, while Dartmouth comes in at the No. 9/10 slot in the polls.

Cornell remained in the No. 2/2 position with 171 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College Hockey poll and 133 points in the USCHO.com poll after twice defeating Rensselaer last weekend in the quarterfinals of the league postseason tournament. The Big Red mounted a dramatic comeback Friday, netting a game-tying goal with 6.7 seconds left in regulation to send Game 1 into overtime. The Big Red would then complete the comeback scoring the game-winner 1:28 into the extra session. The Big Red would finish the sweep the following afternoon by handling the Engineers, 6-1. The number one seed Big Red will host No. 5 Quinnipiac in one the tournament’s semifinal Thursday, March 3.

Dartmouth, seeded third in the ECAC Hockey women’s tournament, advanced to the other semifinals posting a 2-1 series win over visiting Clarkson. The Big Green rallied to defeat the Golden Knights Saturday and Sunday to earn the trip to Cambridge to take on No. seeded Harvard. The Big Green now sits in the No. 10 slot in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll with 21 points and in the No. 9 position in the USCHO.com poll earning 24 points. When the two teams met in mid-November Dartmouth dropped its two league contests with Harvard by scores of 5-3 and 3-2.

Harvard and Quinnipiac picked up votes in one of the in national polls this week.
