Weekly Polls: Cornell Slides in No. 1 Spot

ALBANY, NY – Two ECAC Hockey teams –Cornell and Harvard continue to earn the respect of the poll voters, as they are once again acknowledged in the national polls released Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19. 

Cornell jumped into the No. 1 spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, earning 180 points and 12 first-place votes.  The Big Red received the most first-place votes (8) in the USCHO.com poll, which earned them the No. 2 spot (133 points).  The Big Red will open the 2010-11 season Friday against Robert Morris.  Cornell will play at least four games against teams ranked in this week's top-10, with home-and-home series scheduled against No. 4 Mercyhurst and No. 10 Harvard.

Harvard maintained its No. 9 position in the USCHO.com poll garnering 22 points and fell one spot to the No. 10 position (23 points) in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.  With a core of six seniors, a wealth of underclassmen talent, and a promising freshman class, the Crimson has its sights set on the top of ECAC Hockey and a return trip to the national tournament.  The 2010-11 schedule pits Harvard against some of the top talent in the nation, including top 10 teams Cornell and Minnesota on the road.

Tied for lead in wins in the nation Quinnipiac also was recognized in the USCHO.com Poll.
