Cornell & Harvard Maintain Presence in Polls

ALBANY, NY – Cornell and Harvard are holding strong among the nation’s elite teams, continuing to earn the respect of the poll voters, as they are once again acknowledged in the national polls released Monday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 9.

Cornell holds onto the No. 2 position in both national polls after posting a 2-1 record last week.  The Big Red lost an overtime thriller to now No. 3/3 Mercyhurst, 4-3 last Tuesday, but bounced back to blank No. 10/10 Harvard, 3-0 and roar past visiting Dartmouth, 6-1.  The Big Red is now 6-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 in conference play.  Cornell earned 128 points and three first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll and four first-place votes and 159 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.  Cornell has a rare idle week upcoming, but resumes play the following weekend hosting Princeton on Nov. 19th and Quinnipiac on Nov. 20 in League play.

Posting a 1-1 record last weekend, Harvard improved its record to 2-1-1.  Coming off the setback at Cornell, the Crimson skated to a 3-1 victory at Colgate Saturday.  Harvard kept its No. 10 position in both national polls earning 10 points in the USCHO.com poll and 26 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.  Harvard continues its road trip this weekend in League action, clashing with Quinnipiac Friday (Nov. 12) and battling Princeton (Nov. 13) Saturday.

The 14th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the four NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
