ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior Katie Wilson made nine saves for her first career shutout as the Cornell women's hockey team skated past Union by an 8-0 score on Friday night at Lynah Rink. The win was the Big Red's 17th straight and lifted Cornell to 21-1 on the year and 15-0 in ECAC Hockey action. Union is now 1-23-3 overall and 0-13-2 in the ECAC.
Rebecca Johnston scored three goals, while Laura Fortino had
five assists and Brianne Jenner had four. Hayley Hughes, Kendice
Ogilvie, Lauriane Rougeau and Chelsea Karpenko each added one goal
each.
Union got 12 saves from starting netminder Kate
Gallagher, who worked the first 30:55 of the contest,
allowing six goals. Alana
Marcinko came on in relief midway through the second
period, stopping 15 of the 17 shots she faced. Union had just one
power play on the night in the third period.
Cornell led in shots 35-9.
The Dutchwomen women will play Colgate tomorrow at 4 pm.
