Princeton Jumps to Fourth with Win at Brown

PROVIDENCE (2/18/11) - The Princeton women's hockey team jumped into fourth in the ECAC Hockey standings and put itself in position for a home-ice playoff spot with a 4-2 win at Brown on Friday night.

Princeton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game scoring twice early in the first period and once midway through the second. Olivia Mucha returned to the lineup this weekend and put the Tigers on the board 1:01 into the win on a goal assisted by Paula Romanchuk and Laura Martindale.

Gabie Figueroa gave Princeton a 2-0 lead at 5:17 of the second period with her first collegiate goal unassisted. Kelly Cooke then gave Princeton a 3-0 lead at 13:54 of the second on a goal from Sasha Sherry and Corey Stearns.

Brown scored twice in the third period to move within a goal but Mucha closed out the scoring in the final minute with an empty-net goal. Charissa Stadnyk assisted on the goal.

Rachel Weber made 24 saves in the win while Katie Jamieson stopped 29 shots in the loss. Princeton outshot Brown 33-26.

Princeton improved to 15-12-1 overall and 12-8-1 in the ECAC. The Tigers jumped Quinnipiac in the league standings and now sit fourth going into tomorrow's season finale at Yale.
