Raiders Defeat Hawks in Exhibition Game
HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Colgate
University women's ice hockey team opened up its 2010-11 campaign
with a 7-1 exhibition win over the Bluewater Jr. Hawks of the
Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL) on Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders outshot the Hawks 37-10 and of the seven goals,
freshman forwards Rebecca Walsh (Calgary, Alta.) and Jocelyn
Simpson (Shorewood, Ill.), as well as senior forward and co-captain
Jacquie Colborne (Calgary, Alta.), scored two goals each for the
Raiders.
Colgate also split goaltending duties between senior co-captain
Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.) and junior Kimberly Sass (East
Amherst, N.Y.).
The Raiders will host the Ottawa Jr. Senators on Saturday, Oct. 2
at 4 p.m. in its final exhibition game of the season, before it
opens the 2010-11 season at home against Boston College on Oct. 8
at 7 p.m.
