Tigers Tamed at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/20/10) - Colgate blanked the Princeton women's hockey team 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Starr Rink. The Raiders returned the favor to Princeton as the Tigers blanked Colgate by an identical score one month ago.

Colgate notched what would turn out to be the game winner midway through the first period when Jocelyn Simpson netted her third goal of the season with assists coming from Shannon Doyle and Jessi Waters. Princeton had plenty of chances to draw even in the opening period, but couldn't find the equalizer despite three power plays and 17 shots on goal.

Princeton continued to pepper Colgate netminder Kimberly Sass, putting 10 shots on goal in the second and nine in the third for a total of 37 in the game. Colgate added an insurance goal with less than two minutes remaining in the game when Jenna Klynstra netted her sixth.

Rachel Weber completed the game with 23 saves in the loss as Princeton outshot Colgate 37-25. Laura Martindale and Paula Romanchuk led Princeton with six shots each.

Princeton falls to 3-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the ECAC with the loss, while Colgate moved to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in league play. Princeton plays two games next weekend at Boston University.
