SCHENECTADY, NY- Lauren Hoffman scored two goals to lead the Union Women’s Ice Hockey team as they defeated visiting Sacred Heart 3-0 on Friday night at Messa Rink.
Following a scoreless first period, Union got on the board when Jeannie Sabourin fed a backhanded pass to Stefanie Thomson for the first goal of the game at 5:01. Hoffman would score her second of the game and the team’s third when Lauren Cromartie passed to her from behind the net for a short-handed goal at 8:38 of the second period.
Kate Gallagher got the start in goal and made eight saves. Alana Marcinko came in the third period and had four saves for the combined shutout. Alexius Schutt stopped a whopping 65 shots between the pipes for the Pioneers.
