ALBANY, N.Y. - An array of ECAC Hockey teams were in action last weekend highlighted by St. Lawrence and Union earning sweeps, Quinnipiac producing three points on the road, and Colgate picking-up its first victory of the 2009-10 campaign.

St. Lawrence picked up its first win of the 2009-10 season Friday evening against Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA.  Sophomore Alley Bero tied the game at 2-2 early in the third period, while junior defenseman Michelle Zimmerman tallied the game-winner with only 2:34 left in regulation to lift the Saints past the Colonials, 3-2.  The Saints used a four-goal third period to rally past Robert Morris Saturday doubling-up the Colonials, 6-3, completing the weekend sweep.

Sophomore forward Molly Kate Devin scored one goal and notched three assists while sophomore forward Kelly Alyea and senior defenseman Jackie Koetteritz each scored two goals as Union blanked Sacred Heart 6-0 on its home opener Friday night.  Freshman goaltender Alana Marcinko earned her first career shutout for Union.  The Dutchwomen completed the sweep of Sacred Heart as sophomore forward Émilie Arseneault scored the go ahead goal in the second period as Union defeated Sacred Heart, 3-1 Saturday evening.  The Dutchwomen are now 2-0 at home.

No. 4-ranked Clarkson picked-up its first road win, as well as its first loss of the young season at Vermont last weekend.  Sophomore forward Juana Baribeau junior netminder Lauren Dahm led the way as Baribeau tallied two goals and Dahm posted her second straight shutout and 12th career whitewash with a 32-save effort as the Golden Knights won their third straight game 4-0.  Clarkson allowed three goals in the second period the following afternoon as Vermont quickly reversed the momentum and shocked the Golden Knights 4-1.

Quinnipiac allowed one goal on its two-game road trip last weekend.  Freshman forward Brittany Lyons scored the lone Bobcats goal as they tied with Boston College, 1-1, Friday night.  Freshman goaltender Victoria Vigilanti recorded 29 saves for Quinnipiac.   Freshman forward Heather Hughes scored the game's only goal as the Bobcats blanked Northeastern, 1-0, Saturday afternoon.  Vigilanti recorded her first shutout of the season as the Bobcats record improves to 2-1-1 on the season.

Colgate earned a split on the road versus Hockey East foes this past weekend.  Senior Katie Stewart tallied her first goal of the season in the final period, but the Colgate fell to Providence College, 4-1 Friday night at Schneider Arena.  The Raiders would rebound the following day as freshmen Jordan Brickner and Brittany Phillips each tallied their first career goal, with Phillips putting in the game-winning goal, as the Raiders defeated Connecticut, 5-2, Saturday evening at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum.

Sophomore Kelly Steadman scored late in the first period and top-ranked Mercyhurst held on for a 1-0 victory over Rensselaer last Friday night at the Houston Field House.  Engineers' junior netminder Sonja van der Bliek stopped 31 shots on the evening.  Rensselaer would fall Saturday afternoon as well to visiting Mercyhurst as four different players posted multiple points, as the Lakers used a five-goal first period to complete the weekend sweep, 5-1.

Karlee Overguard's extra-attacker goal with 24 seconds left in regulation gave the Cornell a 5-5 tie with the Toronto Aeros Sunday afternoon in a tune-up game for the Big Red.

Brown kicked off the 2009-10 season with an exhibition game against the Toronto Jr. Aeros Friday night, dropping an explosive 5-4 game.  Senior Sasha Van Muyen had two points on a goal and an assist, as the Bears battled throughout but fell late in a game.
