Clarkson and Harvard Distinguished in National Polls
ALBANY, NY -- In the latest USCHO.com Poll released Monday, January 18, and most recent USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll released, Tuesday, January 19, two ECAC Hockey teams merit recognition by the national voters, as No. 3/3 Clarkson and No. 6/6 Harvard don the charts.
Facing-off in a two-game set at No. 1-ranked Mercyhurst, Clarkson managed to gain one spot in both the USCHO.com Poll (112 points) and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll (89 points) despite earning one point over the weekend. The Golden Knights moved from the No. 4 position to the No. 3 slot. In two games in front of lively crowds, Clarkson fell, 6-3 Friday and tied the top-ranked Lakers, 5-5 Saturday. The Golden Knights will look to hold onto their top spot in the ECAC Hockey standings, as they are on the road in league play this weekend traveling to Yale and Brown.
Harvard, which has earned at least one point in its last 12 games, retained the No. 6 spot in both the USCHO.com Poll receiving 65 points and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll (89 points). The Crimson played Cornell to a 4-4 overtime tie Friday and handled Colgate, 5-1 Saturday to earn three points in the ECAC Hockey standings. Harvard showcases the top scoring offense in league play, having netted 42 goals in 13 conference games (3.23G/GM). The Crimson trek to the Capital District this weekend to take on Rensselaer and Union.
Cornell, Quinnipiac, and St. Lawrence each received votes in the USCHO.com Poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll.
