Four Teams in Poll; Clarkson Continues to Climb
ALBANY, NY -- With two impressive wins last weekend, Clarkson continues to gain national recognition as it now sits in the No. 3 spot in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College polls. Three other ECAC Hockey teams - St. Lawrence, Dartmouth, and Harvard continue to earn the respect of the poll voters, as all three teams are once again acknowledged in each national poll released Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27.
The Golden Knights flexed their muscles at Cheel Arena this past weekend handling then-No. 3 New Hampshire, 6-2 and then No. 9 Boston University, 7-2 in non-conference action. As a result Clarkson moved from the No. 4 position to the No. 3 spot in both the weekly USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College polls earning 113 points and 149 respectively. The Golden Knights will begin league-play this weekend welcoming Brown and Yale.
Idle Dartmouth moved from the No. 8 position to the No. 6 position in the USCHO.com poll (63 points) and moved from the No. 6 position to the No. 7 spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College poll (84 points). The Big Green travel to Cornell and Colgate this weekend to begin play in ECAC Hockey.
St. Lawrence was challenged last weekend by visiting New Hampshire and Boston University. The Saints mustered two ties with the gamely visitors. As a result St. Lawrence dropped from the No. 6 spot to the No. 7 spot in the USCHO.com poll (55 points), but moved from the No. 7 spot to the No. 6 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College poll (87 points). The Saints welcome Yale and Brown to Appleton this week to begin league action.
Harvard, which takes to the ice for the first-time in regular-season action this weekend, moved from No. 10 to No. 9 in the USCHO.com poll (31 points) and from the No. 9 position to the No. 8 spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College poll with 53 points. The Crimson will also venture to Cornell and Colgate to begin their league-play this weekend.
