Trio Maintains Mark in National Polls
ALBANY, NY - A trio of ECAC Hockey teams have earned top-10 spots in the latest USCHO.com Poll released Monday, December 14 and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll released Tuesday, December 15. No. 3/4 Clarkson, No. 5/5 Harvard, and No. 8/8 Cornell continue to earn the respect of the voters on the national level in Division I women's ice hockey.
Clarkson remained in the No. 3 slot in this week's USCHO.com Poll (113 points) for the second straight week and dipped to the No. 4 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll (142 points). Clarkson currently sits tied for first in ECAC Hockey play with 16 points and an 8-1-0 record. The Golden Knights will be on holiday break until after the first of the year when league-play resumes January 8-9 when they take on Union and Rensselaer in league action.
Harvard extended its unbeaten streak to eight games (6-0-2) with another impressive win over then-ranked No. 10 Connecticut. As a result the Crimson jumped from the No. 6 position to the No. 5 spot in the USCHO.com Poll receiving 80 points and moved from the No. 7 spot to the No. 5 spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll with 97 polints. Harvard is tied for third- place in ECAC Hockey play with 12 points on a 6-3-0 record. The Crimson will resume play January 8 at Princeton in conference action.ReUSCHO.com Poll for the second consecutive week earning 49 points.
Cornell secured the No. 8 position in both the USCHO.com Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll for the second consecutive week earning 49 points and 57 points respectively. The Big Red showcase the nation's top penalty kill unit in the country having stopped 44 of 45 opportunities (97.8%). Cornell will take to the ice after the holiday season hosting Syracuse January 5 in non-conference play.
