League Quartet Maintains Presence in Polls

ALBANY, NY -- Clarkson, which recorded two home wins last weekend versus Hockey East foes continues to earn the respect of the poll voters, as the Golden Knights vault to the No. 4 spot in both national polls released Tuesday, October 13.  Dartmouth, Harvard, and St. Lawrence remain visible in the top 10.

The Golden Knights jumped from the No. 7 spot to the No. 4 spot in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and USCHO.com poll, earning 121 and 90 points respectively.  Clarkson earned a 3-2 overtime home win against Providence and then shutout Connecticut 4-0 the following day at Cheel Arena.  

Dartmouth moved to the No. 7 spot from the No. 8 position in both polls.  The Big Green earned 70 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 55 points in the USCHO.com poll. 

Harvard jumped to the No. 8 position in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll from the No. 9 spot (61 points) and maintained the No. 9 position in the USCHO.com poll (31 points).

St. Lawrence, which opened regular-season play last weekend, falling to Connecticut 2-1 and then tying Providence 3-3 (ot) slipped to the No. 10 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll (29 points) and came in at the No. 8 position in the USCHO.com poll garnering 39 points.

ABOUT THE POLLS:

The 13th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the four NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.

The USCHO.com Poll is compiled weekly and consists of 15 voters, including 12 coaches of Division I programs and three women's hockey writers.  USCHO.com provides in-depth coverage of college sports, including hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and others.
