Four League Teams Secure Spots in Poll

ALBANY, NY - Four ECAC Hockey teams have earned top-10 spots in the latest USCHO.com Poll released Monday, December 7 and three teams have earned spots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll released Tuesday, December 8.  No. 3/3 Clarkson, No. 6/7 Harvard, No. 8/8 Cornell, and No. 10 St. Lawrence have all merited recognition on the national level in Division I women's ice hockey. 

Clarkson moved one spot from the No. 4 position to the No. 3 slot in this week's USCHO.com Poll (113 points) and two spots from No. 5 to No. 3 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll (145 points), as it bettered visiting Quinnipiac, 2-1 and blanked Princeton, 3-0.  Clarkson currently sits tied for first in ECAC Hockey play with an 8-1-0 record.  The Golden Knights will be on holiday break until after the first of the year when league-play resumes. 

With two impressive shutouts (1-0 & 0-0, ot) against then ranked No. 2 Minnesota last weekend, Harvard extended its unbeaten streak to seven games (5-0-2).  As a result the Crimson jumped from the No. 9 position to the No. 6 spot in the USCHO.com Poll receiving 75 points and from the No. 9 spot to the No. 7 position in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll earning 92 points.  Harvard is also tied for third- place in ECAC Hockey play with 12 points on a 6-3-0 record.  The Crimson will resume play January 8 at Princeton in conference action.

Cornell fell from the No. 6 spot to the No. 8 position in the USCHO.com Poll earning 52 points and from the No. 7 slot to the No. 8 spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll garnering 63 points.  The Big Red earned three league points tying Yale, 2-2 Friday and blanking Brown, 5-0 Saturday.  Cornell showcases the nation's top penalty kill unit in the country having stopped 44 of 45 opportunities (97.8%).

After picking-up three conference points last weekend St. Lawrence returns to the top-10.  The Saints picked-up seven points to land in the No. 10 position in this week's USCHO.com Poll.  The Saints stopped visiting Princeton by a count of 3-1 last Friday and tied Quinnipiac, 2-2 Saturday.  St. Lawrence will host a two-game set versus top ranked Mercyhurst this weekend.
