STORRS, Conn. – Sophomore forward Lauren Hoffman scored her second goal on the season but the University of Connecticut defeated the Union College women’s ice hockey team 4-1 in the first meeting between the two schools.

With the help from sophomore forward Kelly Alyea, Hoffman opened the game scoring the first goal 3:49 into the first period.

But the Huskies tied the game 5:55 into the second period when Monique Weber on a power play. The Huskies took the lead 1:22 in the third period when Amy Hollstein scored off a pass from Cristin Allen.

Freshman goaltender Alana Marcinko played the first 50 minutes of the game before sophomore Kate Gallagher came in to finish the game.
