Raiders Fall to No. 2 Clarkson
HAMILTON, N.Y. - Senior captain Marissa Dombovy
(Webster, N.Y.) scored the lone goal for the Raiders as they fell
to second ranked Clarkson, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Starr
Rink. Colgate drops to 2-8-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the ECAC,
while the Gold Knights improve 12-2-1 and 6-1-0 in the
conference.
The Raiders held Clarkson scoreless for the first 18 minutes of
play before seniors Genevieve Lavoie and Dominique Thibault put in
a pair of goals in the final two minutes of the first period.
After holding the Golden Knights to a two-point lead
throughout most of the second period, Thibault netted her second
goal of the night, again coming in the final two minutes of the
period to put Clarkson up 3-0.
The Golden Knights would tally one more goal early in the third
period before the Raiders responded with a goal of their own.
Clarkson's Gabrielle Kosziwka and Hailey Wood were each
called with a penalty with 4:37 left on the clock, giving the
Raiders a five-on-three scoring opportunity. Dombovy scored
just over 20 seconds later with senior Ali Edell (Mountain Lakes,
N.J.) and freshman Jordan Brickner (Lake Forest, Ill.) both earning
an assist.
Colgate's Kimberly Sass (East Amherst, N.Y.) finished with 26
saves, while Clarkson's Lauren Dahm stopped 27 shots. The
Raiders went 1-2 on the power-play with Clarkson finishing 1-3 on
power-play opportunities.
The Raiders will on the road this weekend when they take on
another pair of ECAC foes, Nov. 20-21. Colgate will face
Quinnipiac on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. before facing Princeton on
Saturday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m.
