NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Freshman goaltender Cassie Seguin made 20 saves to earn her first career win and shutout and help lead the Princeton women's hockey team to a 4-0 shutout over Yale on Friday night at Ingalls Rink.
The Tigers took control of the game from the opening faceoff as senior Melanie Wallace pushed a rebound into the Yale goal to open the scoring just 2:15 into the game with her second goal of the season from sophomore Julie Johnson and senior Julie Flynn.
The trio all had two points in the win, as Johnson would score Princeton's fourth goal in the third period from Wallace and Flynn.
Freshman Corey Stearns made the score 2-0 at 8:56 of the first period as classmates Kelly Cooke and Alex Kinney added assists on the goal. Cooke fed Stearns and she scored from the left circle.
Sophomore Heather Landry scored her third goal of the season at 16:30 of the second period with assists from sophomores Danielle DiCesare and Paula Romanchuk.
Princeton outshot Yale 26-20. Seguin stopped all 20 shots she faced for the win, while Yale's Jackee Snikeris made 22 saves.
Princeton is now 3-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the ECAC. The Tigers visit Brown on Saturday at 4 p.m.
