Final Poll Showcases League Trio

 

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The final USA Hockey/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll placed three ECAC Hockey teams as St. Lawrence, Dartmouth and Harvard all earned top-10 rankings.

St. Lawrence, one of six schools to remain in the USA Hockey/USA Hockey Magazine poll throughout the entire season, (24-11-3 overall, 16-5-1 in ECAC Hockey), earned a No. 7 ranking under first-year head coach Chris Wells accumulating 79 points.  The Saints' season ended as they dropped a NCAA quarterfinal match-up to Mercyhurst (3-1).

ECAC Hockey tournament champion Dartmouth (20-10-4 overall, 13-5-4 in ECAC Hockey), like St. Lawrence, was featured in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll throughout the entire season.  The Big Green garnered a No. 8 ranking in the final poll with 58 points.  The Big Green earned a trip to the NCAA tournament, falling to eventual national champion No. 1 Wisconsin (7-0) in quarterfinal competition.

Regular-season champion Harvard (19-10-3) overall and (16-4-2) in ECAC Hockey registered the No. 9 ranking in the final poll, accumulating 35 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.  The Crimson fell in overtime to Rensselaer (3-2) in one of the League's tournament semifinal games.

The 12th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the American Hockey Coaches Association and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
