Colgate and Cornell Walk For Charity
BINGHAMTON N.Y. - Two ECAC Hockey women's ice hockey teams,
Colgate and Cornell, recently participated in the American Cancer
Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, which was held
October 5th at Recreation Park in Binghamton. The two
teams joined thousands of others who trekked three miles through
Binghamton's West Side to raise awareness and money to fight the
disease. Nearly 6,000 people walked, and the Cancer Society made
$240,000, exceeding its $232,000 goal.
Over 30 participants from the two schools walked, including
student-athletes and coaches, raising nearly $8,000 in the fight
against cancer between the two schools.
The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Walk is a non-competitive walk to help fight breast cancer and
provide hope to people facing the disease. Participation in the
event supports the American Cancer Society's lifesaving research,
prevention, early detection, and support programs for thousands of
patients and their families.
