Dartmouth Climbs to No. 3; Harvard, St. Lawrence Retain Rankings

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Riding a six-game win streak, including victories over nationally ranked Dartmouth and Harvard last weekend, St. Lawrence climbed to the No. 4 position in the latest national polls. The Saints are joined by the Big Green, Crimson and Golden Knights of Clarkson.

The Saints (7-1-2 overall and 4-0 in ECAC Hockey), who defeated visiting Dartmouth 3-0 Friday and visiting Harvard by a 3-1 margin Saturday, tallied 132 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 99 points in the USCHO.com poll.  St. Lawrence jumped five slots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and four spots in the USCHO.com poll.

Dartmouth, which saw its five-game win streak snapped by St. Lawrence Friday, rallied for a 2-2 tie at Clarkson Saturday. The Big Green (5-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in ECAC Hockey), garnered the No. 5 position (102 points) in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, and the No. 6 slot (66 points) in the USCHO.com poll.

 

Harvard (3-2-1 overall and in ECAC Hockey) is ranked No. 9 in both polls. The Crimson suffered a two-loss weekend, dropping a 2-0 decision at Clarkson Friday and the 3-1 contest versus the Saints Saturday.

Clarkson (4-5-3 overall and 2-1-1 in ECAC Hockey) returned to the national polls on the strength of its victory over Harvard Friday and tie versus Dartmouth Saturday. The Golden Knights accumulated 11 points in the USCHO.com poll to occupy the No. 10 position.

The 12th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the American Hockey Coaches Association and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.

The USCHO.com Poll is compiled weekly and consists of 15 voters, including 12 coaches of Division I programs and three women's hockey writers. USCHO.com provides in-depth coverage of college sports, including hockey, lacrosse, soccer and others.
