For virtually all of last season, Harvard seemingly had a lock on
the No. 1 ranking in the weekly USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine
women’s poll.
The Crimson, coached by Katey Stone, who early this year guided
the U.S. Under-18 women’s team to the gold medal at the World
Championships in Calgary, tied a school record by winning its first
11 games.
And prior to beginning play in the NCAA Tournament, Harvard also
had set several national and ECAC records en route to capturing
championships in the Beanpot Tournament, the ECAC regular season
and the ECAC Tournament. In fact, Harvard became the first team to
finish undefeated in both the ECAC regular season and the
conference tournament.
