Big Red Teams with American Cancer Society

ITHACA, N.Y.-Cornell women's ice hockey is teaming up to help the fight against breast cancer. The Big Red will participate in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Recreation Park in Binghamton.

The Big Red invites fans to join them at the event and help support this great cause. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is an opportunity to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate women about early detection and prevention, and raise money to fund lifesaving research and support programs to help fight breast cancer.

"We hope fans, family and friends will visit the site and sign up to join our team," head coach Doug Derraugh said. "If you prefer, you can start your own team, sign up to walk as an individual, or help by making a donation. Please join the Cornell women's ice hockey team and walk with us to experience an incredible day of inspiration and meaning, and to provide hope for all people facing breast cancer."

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society's premier event to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. In 2007, nearly 500,000 walkers around the country collected more than $50 million to help fight breast cancer.
