Tigers Close Regular Season with Win at Yale
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior Christine Foster
scored two goals in a 1:33 span of the third period to lift the
Princeton women's hockey team to a 4-1 win at Yale on Saturday
afternoon. The win placed Princeton third in the final ECAC
standings and the Tigers will host Rensselaer in next weekend's
ECAC quarterfinals.
Neither team was able to score in the first 40 minutes of action,
but the goals came quick in the final period as Princeton scored
three times in less than three minutes to put the game out of
reach. Foster scored the first two at 5:45 and 7:18 to put the
Tigers ahead. Foster's late season run continued as she recorded
two points for the third straight game and ran her point-scoring
streak to six games.
Junior Melanie
Wallace added the third goal. Yale's Helen Resor cut the lead to
two goals but senior Annie
Greenwood capped the scoring with her sixth of the season into the
empty Yale net.
Princeton senior goaltender Kristen
Young made 23 saves for the win, while Jackee Snickeris made 26 in
the loss.
Princeton improved to 18-9-2 overall and 15-6-1 in the ECAC.
Princeton's win allowed the Tigers to leap over Dartmouth in the
league standings and finish third. The Tigers will host Rensselaer
next weekend in the ECAC quarterfinals.
