Tigers Edge Golden Knights

Boxscore

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Sophomore Sasha Sherry scored at 8:26 of the third period to lift the Princeton women's hockey team to a 2-1 win at Clarkson on Friday night. The win helped the Tigers remain in a tie for fourth in the ECAC standings as the teams fight for home ice in the ECAC playoffs.

Princeton jumped ahead early in the first when sophomore Laura Martindale scored at 2:25 from seniors Christine Foster and Annie Greenwood. Marie-Jo Gaudet knotted the score late in the period and the teams skated even until Sherry put the Tigers ahead in the third period. Junior Maddie Endicott and Greenwood had helpers on the goal.

Senior Kristen Young made 26 saves for the win, while Laura Dahm stopped 26 in the loss.

The win snapped a three-game skid at the hands of Clarkson and avenged an overtime loss to Clarkson in November at home. The win moved Princeton to 15-9-2 overall. Princeton momentarily had a two-point edge in the standings, but Colgate pulled out a last-minute win over Dartmouth to remain even.

Princeton is at St. Lawrence tomorrow at 4 p.m.
