SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Senior forward Crysti Howser and sophomore
forward Bray Ketchum each scored a pair of goals, and freshman
goaltender Genny Ladiges got a shutout in her first career start,
as Yale blanked Union 4-0 in the ECAC Hockey opener for both teams.
Howser's first goal came only 12 seconds in and was the start of a
three-point day for her. Ketchum had four points, putting the game
out of reach with a power-play goal in the third assisted by junior
defenseman Alyssa Clarke. Ladiges made 12 saves while Union goalie
Lundy Day made 29 as Yale outshot Union 39-12.
Howser, Ketchum and their linemate, freshman forward Aleca Hughes,
each finished +3 for the game. Hughes assisted on Howser's second
goal, which came 41 seconds into the second period, and Ketchum's
first goal, which came two minutes and 20 seconds later.
Howser now has four goals in the season's first two games. Yale
plays at RPI Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
