Quinnipiac Stifled by Boston College
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Quinnipiac University women’s
ice hockey team was defeated by No. 7 Boston College, 4-0, Sunday
afternoon at the Conte Forum. The Bobcats’ record drops to
1-7-0 with the loss, while the Eagles improve to 4-0-2 this
season.
Boston College took a 1-0 lead 1:09 into the first period. Kelli
Stack slipped the puck under Quinnipiac goaltender Nanna Holm
Glaas’ (Stockholm, Sweden) pads while standing at the top of
the crease. Allie Thunstrom and Stephanie Olchowski were credited
the assists on the game’s opening goal.
The Eagles would make it 2-0 with just under a minute remaining in
the first period with a power-play goal from Meghan Fardelmann.
Fardelmann carried the puck to the right side of Glaas and fired it
into the top left corner of the net.
Boston College scored another power-play goal at the 18:44 mark in
the third period. Stack received a pass in front of the goal and
beat Glaas to the glove side. Stack’s second goal of the game
was assisted by Danielle Welch and Mary Restuccia.
The Eagles scored their final goal at the 8:48 mark in the third
period. Allie Thunstrom was positioned to the right of the net and
received a pass from Stack and shot it over Glaas’ glove.
Katelyn Kurth was also credited with an assist.
Kallie Flor (Farmington, Minn.) had the best scoring chance for
the Bobcats when she deflected a backhand pass from Chelsea Illchuk
(Lockhart, Manitoba) in the first period. Flor’s shot was
stopped by Boston College goaltender Molly Shaus.
Glaas made 20 saves in the game while Boston College’s
goaltenders Molly Shaus, Amanda Rothschild and Kiera Kingston
combined to stop 13 Quinnipiac shots.
The Bobcats return to action on Friday, Oct. 31, when they take on
Harvard at the TD Banknorth Sports Center at 7 p.m.
