Day Shines in Loss

GRAND FORK, ND - Union College women's hockey senior goaltender Lundy Day (Calgary, AB) turned aside 41 North Dakota shots in a 3-0 loss at the Ralph Engelstad Arena on Friday. Day increased her career-save total to 1,264 and is within 70 saves of moving into the second spot on the College's all-time saves list.

With the setback Union drops to 0-6-1, while North Dakota improves to 3-1-0. The two teams will do battle again on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.

Since transferring to Union for her junior season, Day has made 35 or more saves 26 times during her career. Entering the game her .903 save percentage ranked second on the school's all-time list behind Victoria Elkin's .909

Day Union's defense has allowed three or less goals in three games so far and helped its cause tonight killing 5-of-6 penalties.

North Dakota tallied a goal in the first and two in the third and was led by Melissa Jaques' two goals.

Union's offense was led by sophomore center Marissa Gentile (Groton, MA) and rookie forward Lauren Hoffman (Marcy, NY), who each had two shots. Junior defender Jackie Koetteritz's (Breckenridge, CO) four-game point streak halted despite registering a shot.
