Duffy added two goals of her own from the Big Red blue line, and
classmate Chelsea Karpenko added a goal and four assists. Sophomore

to be the game winner. Duffy netted her first goal for Cornell 56

before the end of the period.
The Big Red continued to dominate in the second period, and
Johnston scored on the power play at 9:49 to complete her hat trick
for the night. Laura Danforth and Hayley Hughes each added a goal
of their own to put the Big Red up 7-1 after two periods.
White took advantage of a Big Red five-on-three power play early in
the third period scoring off a play set up by Johnston and
Karpenko. Duffy netted her second goal almost a minute and a half
later with a man advantage. Liz Zorn added her first goal of the
night at 8:47 and Karpenko answered less than a minute later with
another goal. Johnston netted her fourth goal of the game at 13:11
picking up a pass from Karpenko behind the Big Red goal and skated
the entire length of the ice to shoot the puck past Lightning
goalie Victoria Powers.
The Big Red outshot Durham 53-16. Lightning netminder Kim Caggiula
made 13 saves, and Powers added 28.
Cornell will open its regular season next weekend, traveling to
