Boxscore

SCHENECTADY, NY -– The Union College Dutchwomen (0-4-1) and Wayne State Warriors (1-1-1) skated to a 1-1 draw Friday night at Messa Rink. Union goalie Lundy Day (Calgary, AB) had a career high 62 saves in net, while the Dutchwomen penalty kill unit stopped all nine Wayne State opportunities.

The Dutchwomen jumped out to a 1 – 0 lead at 17:21 of the second period on a five on three power play. Junior Jackie Koetteritz (Breckenridge, CO) collected the puck on the left side of the blue line and slid the puck down to freshman winger Adelle Calahan (Skokie, IL), who fired a quick shot on Wayne St. goalie Lindsey Park. Park was able to stop Calahan’s shot, but Union senior Suzy Pocock (Sterling Heights, MI) pounced on the rebound to net her second marker of the season.

The Warriors tied the game at 7:34 of the third period on an unassisted goal from Melissa Boal.

Union senior netminder Lundy Day (Calgary, AB) shut out the Warriors through the first two periods, stopping all 38 shots she faced and finished with 62 saves. Day’s counterpart Park had 16 saves for the game.

The Dutchwomen host the Warriors and will do battle again Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
