Denino's Overtime Marker Lifts Princeton
PRINCETON -- The Princeton women’s hockey team saw its
first competitive action of the 2008-09 season on Friday in an
exhibition win over the Bluewater Hawks. Princeton won the game 5-4
in overtime on junior Stephanie Denino’s game winner.
Princeton raced out to a 3-0 lead on goals from senior Katherine
Dineen, freshman Paula Romanchuk and junior Julie Flynn. Freshman
Danielle DiCesare scored Princeton’s fourth goal in the third
period and Denino provided the game winner in overtime. Her goal
was assisted by Dineen and junior Melanie Wallace.
Senior goaltender Kristen Young played the first two periods in
goal and allowed one goal. Freshman Rachel Weber played the final
period and overtime and allowed three goals, but was credited with
the win.
Princeton will travel to Brown tomorrow to play in two scrimmages
with Brown and Yale. Each team will play two 20 minute periods
against one another. The Tigers open the regular season a week from
tonight at home against Connecticut.
