Boxscore

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Princeton women's hockey team scored three goals in a five-minute span of the third period to break a 3-3 tie and win at Cornell 6-3 on Friday night. Senior Christine Foster and freshman Danielle DiCesare each had two goals in the win.

Princeton never trailed in the game as the Tigers built up leads of 1-0 and 3-1 only to have Cornell come back to even the game twice. DiCesare opened the scoring 8:29 into the game with her second goal of the season from junior Melanie Wallace, but the Tiger lead last only four minutes until Jess Martino evened things up for Cornell.

Foster quickly countered for the Tigers and put Princeotn back ahead less than a minute after Cornell had scored to tie the game. DiCesare and freshman Heather Landry assisted Foster's goal. Princeton extended its lead 2:19 into the second period when DiCesare scored on the power play from sophomores Laura Martindale and Sasha Sherry.

Following that goal, momentum shifted to Cornell and the Big Red scored five minutes to later on the power play to move within one and again at even strength with four minutes left in the period to deadlock the game at 3-3 entering the third period.

Tied at three, the Tigers scored three quick goals midway through the period to pull away and defeat the Big Red. At 7:19 the Tigers took advantage of two Cornell penalties as Sherry scored her third goal of the season on a point shot while the Tigers skated with a two-player advantage. Wallace and Foster closed out the scoring for the Tigers when they found the back of the net 27 seconds apart in the 13th minute of the stanza.
