Union Falls at Quinnipiac
HAMDEN, CT - Freshman forward Lauren Hoffman scored her third
goal of the season in Union College's 4-1 women's ice hockey loss
at Quinnipiac on Saturday. Hoffman scored late in the first period
and I snow tied for second on the team for goals scored.
Union drops to 2-15-1 overall and 0-8-0 in ECAC Hockey play, while
Quinnipiac improves to 3-17-1 and 2-6-1 in conference action.
Hoffman's goal, which came with 26 ticks remaining in the first
period, knotted the score at 1-1. The even-strength goal was
unassisted. She is tied for first among freshman with three points
and tied for second with five points.
Quinnipiac's Kelly Davies registered the game-winning goal with
1:48 remaining in the second period. Elyse Cole and Janine Duffy
set up her goal. Davies finished with a game-high two goals - she
had the final marker - and Cole registered a goal and three
assists.
Senior goaltender Lundy Day made 25 saves on 29 shots, while the
Bobcats' Tia Wishart turned away 12 tries.
Quinnipiac went 2-for-4 on the power play, while Union was
0-for-2.
The Dutchwomen return to the ice on Friday, Dec. 12 for a 2 p.m.
game at Maine.
