Boxscore

HAMDEN, Conn. -  Elyse Cole (Belleville, Ontario) scored a goal and had two assists and Kelley Davies (Chesapeake, Va.) scored two goals as the Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey team picked up its second ECAC Hockey win of the season, 4-1, against Union Saturday afternoon at the TD Banknorth Sports Center. The win improves the Bobcats conference mark to 2-6-1 and 3-17-1 overall. Union remains winless in ECAC play at 0-7-0 with the loss.

Cole scored her seventh goal of the season on a backhanded shot at the top of the Union crease. Kallie Flor (Farmington, Minn.) made a centering pass to Cole from just below the right half-boards. Cole received the pass and lifted the puck over the sprawling Union goalkeeper Lundy Day's stick side.

Union's Lauren Hoffman evened the score with 26 seconds remaining in the first period. Hoffman intercepted an errant clearing pass up the slot and beat Quinnipiac goaltender Tia Wishart (Vancouver Island, British Columbia) to the stick-side for her first career goal.

Davies put the Bobcats back up by one goal, 2-1, with 1:48 left in the middle period. Janine Duffy (Toronto, Ontario) passed to Cole behind the Union net. Cole skated towards the right corner before putting a saucer pass on the stick of Davies at the base of the slot. The sophomore center snapped a quick shot over the right shoulder of Day and off the bottom on the crossbar and into the net for her second goal of the season. Duffy collected her seventh assist of the season, while Cole's helper was her fourth.

Flor's third goal of the season midway through the third period gave the Bobcats a two-goal advantage, 3-1. On the power play, Flor moved the point to Jordan Elkins (Wasilla, Alaska). Elkins played the puck back to Flor at the bottom of the right faceoff circle to the left of Day. The junior center received the pass and moved in to the low slot and roofed a shot over the glove of the Union netminder.

Cole and Davies connected again on a power-play goal with 3:50 remaining in the game to seal the victory for the Bobcats, 4-1. Cole collected her third point of the game when she made a centering pass to Davies from the right circle. Davies one-timed the puck into the lower left corner of the net from the top of the crease.

Wishart turned away 12 Union shots in earning her second win of the season. Union's Day stopped 25 Quinnipiac shots in the loss. Quinnipiac finished 2-for-4 on the power play, while holding the Dutchwomen without a goal on the player advantage.

The Bobcats return to action Friday, Jan. 2 when they travel to Hanover, N.H. to take on the Big Green of Dartmouth College. The puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
