ALBANY, N.Y. -- There is a rule of sorts in sports...not to look ahead, but with the final stretch of the season upon ECAC Hockey, teams are focusing on positioning and seeding.  Each conference game is an opportunity to earn vital points in the final stretch of play.

No. 6 St. Lawrence 6, at Rensselaer 0:  St. Lawrence, which played without three of its leading scorers seniors Sabrina Harbec, Chelsea Grills and Annie Guay, who are at a training camp with Team Canada, received offensive support from three different Saints who tallied goals, including a goal and an assist from junior Jordan Pyers, and senior goalie Meaghan Guckian turned in a 25-save performance to lift the Scarlet and Brown to a road win over the Engineers.  The victory kept St. Lawrence (18-7-0, 11-2-0) undefeated in the all-time series against the Engineers at 5-0-0, and gave the Saints two more crucial points in the conference standings.  St. Lawrence outshot Rensselaer 30-25 in the contest.  Sonja van der Bliek stopped 27 shots for the Engineers.

No. 10 Clarkson 6, at Union 0:  The Golden Knights matched their travel partners's success in the Capital District scoring two in each period, including two by sophomore Genevieve Lavoie who scored two goals and assisted on another, as Clarkson won its third straight game with a shutout at Union.  The Golden Knights improved to 17-5-3 overall and 8-4-1 in the ECAC, holding on to a tie for third place in the league standings.  Union dropped to 3-18-2 and 0-11-2.  Clarkson outshot the Dutchwomen 46-7 in the contest.  Clarkson continues its brief road trip at Rensselaer  Saturday, while Union hosts St. Lawrence.

Colgate 4, at Yale 1:  Colgate cruised to victory over Yale at Ingalls Arena.  The Raiders were paced by junior Elin Brown  who collected four points with a goal and three helpers.  The Raiders improve to 9-11-3 overall and 6-5-2 in ECAC Hockey play, which moves them into fifth place in the league standings.  Yale falls to 8-8-4 and 5-6-2 in the league.  Sophomores Evan Minnick, Marissa Dombovy and junior Sam Hunt each had two-point outings. Hunt's two points moves her into fifth place on Colgate's all-time scoring list, as she inches within seven points of reaching the century mark.  Netminder Lisa Plenderleith evened her personal record on the season to   8-8-2, stopping 21 shots.  Maggie Westfal netted the lone goal for the Bulldogs, her fourth of the season.

Cornell 5, at Brown 1:  Cornell skated past Brown at Meehan Auditorium.  The Big Red scored midway through the first period and never looked back as it improved to 9-9-1 overall this season and has a 6-6-1 record in league action.  Brown fell to 3-14-3 overall and is 2-9-2 in ECAC Hockey play.  Freshman goaltender Katie Wilson earned the win in her first collegiate start for Cornell.  Wilson made 25 saves  in her first complete game, while her counterpart Nicole Stock made 37 saves for Brown.  Cornell received two goals within the first minute of play in the second period to seal the victory, including a goal from senior co-captain Caeleigh Beerworth who lengthened Cornell's lead to two when she netted the puck past Stock.  Defensemen Steph Ulrich and Sam Wauer picked up the assists.  Nineteen seconds later freshman Rebecca Johnston scored again for the Big Red off assists by Hayley Hughes and Karlee Overguard.  The Big Red outshot Brown 42-26 for the night.

At No. 7 Mercyhurst 7, Quinnipiac 1:  Breana Burton scored the Bobcats' lone goal in a  loss to Mercyhurst at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.  Netminder Tia Wishart  turned back 48 shots she faced in goal for Quinnipiac.  The Bobcats are now 3-17-4 on the season, while the Lakers improve to 18-5-2 with the win.
