ALBANY, N.Y. -- In what has become regular occurrence, the top
four teams in ECAC Hockey continue to be among the best in the
nation, earning slots in the latest national polls.
For the seventh consecutive week, Harvard claimed all 19
first-place votes and a total of 190 points to retain the top
spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College
Hockey Poll and 10 of 15 first-place votes for 145 points to secure
the top spot in the USCHO.com poll. The
Crimson won the ECAC Women's Hockey Championship Sunday with a
3-2 overtime victory over St. Lawrence. Harvard hosts Dartmouth in
NCAA Championship action Saturday.
St. Lawrence remained at No. 6 in both polls. The
Saints tallied 101 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine
poll and 79 points in the USCHO.com poll. The Saints, who
dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Harvard in the 2008 ECAC Women's
Hockey Championship Sunday, travel to New Hampshire to face
the Wildcats Saturday in NCAA Championship play.
Dartmouth, which faces Harvard in NCAA Championship competition
Saturday, occupies the No. 8 slot in both polls, tallying
49 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 44
points in the USCHO.com poll.
Clarkson is No. 9 in both polls. The Golden Knights registered 39 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 25 points in the USCHO.com poll.
About the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll: The 11th annual poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the American Hockey Coaches Association and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
