Commissioners' Cup Release

Only one game was played this past weekend in the WOMEN'S COMMISSIONERS' CUP series and the ECAC used it to pull even with the WCHA with two games in hand. Here's a look at the sole contest:

Colgate 7, Wayne State 3 (at Hamilton, NY): Junior forward Sam Hunt (Calgary, Alta.) scored three times in Colgate's four-goal second period, powering the Red Raiders to this home win over Wayne State on Saturday. This game started slowly but after a scorless first period, Colgate and Hunt poured it on in the middle frame, scoring four goals on just 10 shots. Each team scored three times in the third, the finally tally coming into an empty net at 19:04. Statistical oddity: the offenses heated up as the game went on, as evidenced by shot totals. The teams took a combined 9 shots in the first, 18 in the second, and 26 in the third.

There are no games this week in the series but the next four contests feature eight of the top ten women's teams in the country, two games coming before the holiday break and two after.
