(Click Here To View Complete Release In PDF Format)

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The recently announced ECAC Hockey and the American Cancer Society Pink At The Rink promotion is slated to begin this weekend at all ECAC Hockey venues.  This newly created variation of a traditional Coaches vs. Cancer program will provide critical outreach, while raising funds in support of the American Cancer Society's lifesaving cancer research, education, advocacy and community service efforts.

The main feature of the program will have ECAC Hockey women's hockey teams wearing specially designed pink jerseys on consecutive weekend home series - February 8-9 and February 15-16.  These game-worn jerseys will then be auctioned on-line at a newly created Web site (www.ecachockeycoachesvscancer.com) that is targeted to be launched February 8.  The game-worn pink jerseys will be personalized for each institution and showcase ECAC Hockey Coaches vs. Cancer and ECAC Hockey logo patches.

With the aide of MissionFish, a fundraising tool on eBay, the bidding for all items is slated to last for 10 days beginning February 8 and concluding February 17.  A minimum bid of $150 is sought for each player's jersey, with a "Buy It Now" feature on the Web site that allows a potential buyer to own the jersey of his/her choice for a flat price of $250.

Look for opportunities to purchase these jerseys on the arena's concourse and lobby areas during home games as well.

In addition to the pink jerseys, both men's and women's coaching staffs will be wearing pink ties and scarves during these two designated weekends.  Each head coach will autograph his/her game-worn item, which will then be placed on the new Web site as part of the on-line auction process.

ECAC Hockey institutions and its student-athletes are doing a number of activities to aid the cause, such as selling of T-shirts, distribution of pink bracelets, men's teams wearing pink jerseys during warm-ups for their games, guest coaches on the bench who are cancer survivors, use of pink sticks during warm-ups, referees wearing pink arms bands, ceremonial puck drops, etc.
