U.S. National Festival Has Strong League Presence
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Twelve current and former League standouts are among 66 players selected to participate in the 2007 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, which will take place August 14-21 in Lake Placid, N.Y. The Festival participants will be divided into three teams (Red, White and Blue) for daily practices and games.
Team White is comprised of the 22 players who will go on to represent the United States as part of the U.S. Women's Under-18 Select Team during a three-game series with Canada in Ottawa (Aug. 23-26). Meanwhile, Teams Blue and Red include 27 players in the Under-22 range, along with 18 post-NCAA athletes. The 27 younger players will be vying to be among the 22 selected for the U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team that will host Canada for a three-game series at the Olympic Center from Aug. 23-26.
Comprising the list of League invitees are eight current student-athletes (Caitlin Cahow and Brittany Martin of Harvard; Yale juniors Crysti Howser and Helen Resor; Brown senior Hayley Moore; Dartmouth junior Julia Bronson and sophomore Sarah Parsons; and St. Lawrence junior Carson Duggan) and four former League standouts (2007 Kazmeier Award winner Julie Chu, Harvard; Princeton's Megan Van Beusekom; Yale's Sheila Zingler; and Dartmouth's Alana BreMiller.
Eleven coaches, including Harvard head coach Katey Stone and St. Lawrence head coach Paul Flanagan, will take part in the 2007 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, as announced on June 6.
Quinnipiac's Sal Lombardi will serve as equipment manager during the festival.
