Holiday Camp Attendees Announced

Fifty-Six Players to Train in Lake Placid, N.Y., from Dec. 26-Jan. 1

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fifty-six of the nation's top women's ice hockey players, including numerous current and former ECAC Hockey standouts, as well as current coaches, will convene in Lake Placid, N.Y., for USA Hockey's annual Women's Holiday Camp from Dec. 26, 2007-Jan. 1, 2008.

With an eight-member coaching staff on hand, the athletes will be split into three teams for daily practices, strength training and scrimmages. In addition, 22 players will be vying for 20 spots on the first-ever U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team that will be competing in the inaugural 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's Under-18 Championship in Calgary, Alta., from Jan. 7-12, 2008.

Included on the camp roster are all 22 players who will be competing with the 2007 U.S. Women's Select Team at the Four Nations Cup from Nov. 7-11. In addition, 10 have competed in at least one Olympic Winter Games, including Harvard defenseman Caitlin Cahow (Branford, Conn.), 2007 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner and former Harvard standout Julie Chu (Fairfield, Conn.), Natalie Darwitz (Eagan, Minn.), Molly Engstrom (Siren, Wis.), Chanda Gunn (Huntington Beach, Calif.), former Dartmouth student-athlete Kristin King (Piqua, Ohio), Dartmouth forward Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.), Jenny Potter (Edina, Minn.), Yale defenseman Helen Resor (Greenwich, Conn.) and former Harvard standout Angela Ruggiero (Harper Woods, Mich.).

The coaching staff for the U.S. Women's National Team during the 2007-08 season - Head Coach Jackie Barto (Lewis Center, Ohio); Assistant Coaches Paul Flanagan (Canton, N.Y.), who serves as head coach at St. Lawrence; and Kevin Houle (Morrisonville, N.Y.); Goaltending Consultant Dave Flint (Merrimack, N.H.) and Strength & Conditioning Coach Teena Murray (Louisville, Ky.) - will work in conjunction the coaching staff for the 2008 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team - Head Coach Katey Stone of Harvard (Arlington, Mass.) and Assistant Coaches Erin Whitten Hamlen (Hampton, N.H.) and Bob Deraney (Shrewsbury, Mass.) - at the training camp.

NOTES: The schedule for the USA Hockey Women's Holiday Camp will be released in December ... All practices and games will be held in either the USA Rink or 1980 Rink Herb Brooks Arena at the Olympic Center.
