Princeton, Quinnipiac Skate to Draw
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Princeton women's hockey team skated to
its second consecutive tie to begin the season when the Tigers and
Quinnipiac played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon at Hobey Baker
Rink. Junior Annie
Greenwood scored Princeton's goal early in the second period.
After a scoreless first, the Tigers got on the scoreboard 4:10 into
the second period when Greenwood connected with her first goal of
the season. Senior Marykate
Oakley circled behind the net with puck and she came around fed
Greenwood, who one-timed the pass by Quinnipiac goaltender Jamie
Miller to put Princeton ahead 1-0.
Princeton held the lead through two periods, before Quinnipiac
evened the game with a power-play goal at 7:30 of the third. The
Bobcats gained pressure in the Tiger zone and Trudy Reyns and
Nicolette Leone worked the puck back-and-forth along the points.
Once a screen developed, Leone took a slap shot from the point that
got through traffic and evened the score at 1-1.
Princeton outshot Quinnipiac 30-16 in the game. Princeton junior
goaltender Kristen
Young made 15 saves, while Miller stopped 29 shots.
Princeton, now 0-0-2 on the season, returns to action on Friday
night when Clarkson visits Hobey Baker Rink at 7 p.m.
