Quinnipiac Rallies, But Falls to BC

HAMDEN, CT -- Quinnipiac scored twice in the third period but couldn't overcome an early Boston College barrage and lost 4-2 at TD Banknorth Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. Saturday afternoon. Boston College improved to 3-0 and Quinnipiac dropped to 1-1.

Trailing 4-0 midway through the third period Quinnipiac scored twice in less than a minute to make things interesting. The Bobcats got on the board when Erica Bolognino stuffed home her own rebound at the 10:29 mark and Nicolette Leone's blast from the point on the power play at 11:28 made it 4-2. Trudy Reyns, pictured, assisted the goal. The Bobcats kept the pressure on but couldn't climb all the way back thanks a 21-save performance by Boston College goaltender Molly Schaus.

Boston College jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by Allie Thunstrom and Kelli Stack - the second of which came on the power play. The visitors expanded their lead with two more tallies in the second. Thunstrom added her second of the game on the power play and Becky Zavisza added a goal.

Quinnipiac goalie Jamie Miller made 22 saves as Boston College finished the game with a 26-23 shots on goal advantage.

Boston College was 2-for-5 on the power play and Quinnipiac was 1-for-3 on the advantage.
