Fifth Straight Win Gives Dartmouth No. 500
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Dartmouth women's hockey team got goals
from three different skaters as the Big Green increased its win
streak to five games with a 2-1 win at Yale on Saturday evening.
For Dartmouth, it was the Big Green's 500th win in program
history.
Yale got on the board first with a goal from Sarah Tittman, just
2:30 into the game to put the Bulldogs on top 1-0. Dartmouth had
its opportunities with three power plays within the first 10
minutes, but could not capitalize. The Big Green had a commanding
lead in shots on goal with a 10-4 advantage. Yale goaltender Jackee
Snikeris, however, made all 10 saves.
Yale came out in the second period and peppered junior goaltender
Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.). The Bulldogs earned two power play
chances in the first five minutes of the period, but Clemis was up
to the task and made five saves.
The Big Green evened the score with 10:07 left in the second period
as junior Maggie
Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn.) netted her fourth of the season and
second in as many games. Dartmouth took the lead at 2-1, at the
6:48 mark, on a power play goal from sophomore Jenna
Cunningham (Medicine Hat. Alta.) with assists going to Kennedy and
junior Julia
Bronson (Arlington, Va.).
In the third period, Dartmouth pulled away midway through the
period as sophomore Sarah
Parsons (Dover, Mass.) tallied her second goal in two nights with
the assist credited to classmate Sarah
Toupal (White Bear Lake, Minn.). Cunningham added an empty net goal
for her second of the night with four minutes remaining with
Kennedy posting her second assist of the game.
Clemis earned her fourth win of the season, stopping 21 shots,
while Snikeris took the loss with 23 saves.
The Big Green had a 25-20 shot advantage and converted on one power
play in four chances. The Bulldogs had five man advantage
opportunities, but could not cash in.
Dartmouth will be back in action this coming weekend as the Big
Green hosts ECAC Hockey rival St. Lawrence on Friday at 7 p.m and
Clarkson on Saturday with the face-off coming at 5 p.m.
