Quinnipiac Beaten at BU
Elyse Cole scored Quinnipiac's only goal as the women's ice hockey team lost to Boston University, 6-1, in Boston, Mass. The Bobcats drop to 1-6-1 overall and 0-4-1 in ECAC Hockey.
Cole scored with just 3:32 remaining in the first period for the game's first goal to put the Bobcats on top, 1-0. Freshman standout Brandice Moniz assisted on the goal. Boston University quickly tied the game just under five minutes into the second period on a goal by Holly Lorms. Lorms would score twice in the game. Also scoring for the Terriers was Melissa Anderson, Julie Poulin, Jonnie Bloemers and Jillian Kirchner. Anderson and Poulin also had assists while Gina Kearns came away with the playmaker, totaling three assists. Sarah Appleton and Lauren Cherewyk each had two assists in the win.
In goal for the Bobcats, Jamie Miller totaled 37 saves while
allowing five of the six goals in 54:47 between the pipes. The
Bobcats allowed one goal on an empty net. Miller had 11 saves in
the first period, holding the Terriers scoreless through the first
frame. Miller would finish with 16 saves in the second period and
10 in the final.
The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team returns to action next
weekend when they host Colgate on Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. and
Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. Both games will be played at
the TD Banknorth Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
