Cornell Cannot Keep Pace with Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Big Red women's ice hockey team was shut out at Yale, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon. Cornell split ECAC Hockey action this weekend to move to 6-7-1 in league play and is 9-10-1 overall. Yale improves to 9-8-4 and is 7-6-1 against ECAC Hockey opponents.

Freshman goaltender Katie Wilson started in net for the Big Red. The Bulldogs' Lili Rudis got the puck past Wilson to give Yale a one goal lead at 5:06 of the first period.  

The Bulldogs held their lead throughout the first period. At 2:05 of the second period, Alyssa Clarke lengthened her team's advantage to two.  

After the goal, freshman Kayla Strong came in to play goalie for the Big Red. The Bulldogs scored three more times in the second period to take a 5-0 lead into the third period.  

Sophomore Jenny Niesluchowski played the third period in goal for Cornell stopping all 10 shots she faced.  

Yale goaltender Jackee Snikeris earned the shutout making 28 saves.  

The Big Red will return to action next weekend when it will play a home and home series against Colgate. Cornell will hit the road on Friday night for a 7 p.m. start, and will play host to the Raiders on Saturday for a 4 p.m. face-off.
