
Quinnipiac Cannot Keep Pace with Mercyhurst
ERIE, Pa. -- Tia Wishart (Vancouver Island, B.C.) turned in another outstanding performance in a 7-0 loss to #6 ranked Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Wishart turned away 55 Mercyhurst shots in the game, one day after stopping 48. The loss drops the Bobcats' season record to 3-18-4, while Mercyhurst improves to 19-5-2.
Meghan Agosta scored a hat trick for the Lakers, including a short-handed goal early in the third. Agosta also added an assist on the first of Jesse Scanzano's two first period goals.
The Lakers got on the scoreboard almost nine minutes into the game on a Scanzano goal. She picked up her second of the game just 7:54 later.
Agosta scored her first on the power play at 10:35 of the second period and Melissa Lacroix added another 43 seconds later. The Lakers had four second period goals, with Agosta's third the only goal scored in the final period. Four Lakers finished the game with multiple points.
Kallie Flor (Farmington, Minn.) and Brandice Moniz (Oakville, Ont.) led the Bobcats' offense with three shots each. Captain Trudy Reyns (Port Hope, Ont.) added two more shots from the blueline. Quinnipiac finished the game with 15 shots on net.
This is the second consecutive impressive performance by Wishart. She stopped 48 shots in Friday night's game against the Lakers, giving her 103 saves in the two games this weekend.
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday night at the TD Banknorth Sports Center as they take on Princeton at 7 p.m. The Bobcats and Tigers played to a 2-2 draw on Oct. 21 at Hobey Baker Rink in Princeton, N.J.
