
Union Blanked at Clarkson
SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Clarkson Golden Knights had goals from
five different players and jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead en
route to defeating the Union College Dutchwomen by a final score of
6-0. Clarkson improves to 17-5-3 overall and 8-4-1 in ECAC Hockey
play, Union falls to 3-19-2 overall and 0-11-2 in ECAC Hockey
action.
Brooke Beazier received a pass from Jessica Cloutier in front of
the net that left her with just the goalie to beat. Beazier took a
wrist shot that was able to beat Union netminder Lundy Day
(Calgary, Alberta) at 4:30 of the first. Clarkson tacked on to the
lead at 18:51 on the power play. Genevieve Lavoie took a pass from
Melissa Waldie and beat Day high on the glove side to go ahead 2-0.
Clarkson took a 3-0 lead at the 10:06 mark of the second period.
Kimberly McKenney fired a slap shot from above the left face off
circle that beat Day high on the glove side. Amanda Dittmer
made it 4-0 at 12:33. Jessica Cloutier won a face off and drew the
puck back to Stefanie Wyss who passed it over to Dittmer. Dittmer
fired a slap shot from the slot that snuck past
Day.
Lavoie scored her second goal of the game 28 seconds into the third
period. Lavoie caused a Dutchwomen turnover deep in there own zone
and beat Day to make the score 5-0. Clarkson tacked on a
short-handed goal to make the final 6-0.
Day made 40 saves in net for the Dutchwomen while Lauren Dahm
stopped all seven shots she faced.
Union returns to ECAC Hockey action Saturday afternoon at four
o'clock as they host St. Lawrence.
