NIAGARA, N.Y. -- Freshman goaltender Jackee Snikeris picked up
her third shutout of the season, and second in the last two weeks,
as Yale (8-7-4) won 3-0 at Niagara (6-12-4) Saturday night. The
game was scoreless until 3:50 of the third, when sophomore
defenseman Alyssa Clarke's power play goal gave the Bulldogs the
lead. A power-play goal from junior forward Crysti Howser at 8:13
made it 2-0, and Clarke's short-handed goal with three seconds left
put the game away. Snikeris finished with 23 saves and has allowed
only four goals in her last four games (0.96 goals-against average,
.957 save percentage).
Howser, who won 18 of 23 face-offs, finished with two points as she
and freshman forward Bray Ketchum assisted on Clarke's short-handed
goal. Sophomore forward Mandi Schwartz and freshman defenseman
Samantha MacLean also had assists.
Snikeris and the Bulldogs held Niagara scoreless on five power
plays. Yale killed off 13 of 14 penalties on the weekend.
Yale, which is 5-2-2 in its last nine games, returns home next
weekend to face ECAC Hockey foes Colgate and Cornell.
