Big Red Drops Game to Clarkson
ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Big Red women's ice hockey team lost, 4-1, to Clarkson on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Rebecca Johnston scored Cornell's lone goal. The Big Red moves to 8-9-1 overall and is 5-6-1 in league action. Clarkson improves to 16-5-3, and is 7-4-1 in ECAC Hockey play.
The Golden Knights' Marie-Jo Gaudet put her team on the board for the first time at 10:36 of the first period. Freshman Rebecca Johnston tied the game up at 0:19 of the second period when she scored an unassisted goal on the power play.
Gaudet scored two more goals to complete a hat trick for the night in the second and third periods, while Genevieve Lavoie added a goal of her own to take Clarkson to a 4-1 final advantage.
Cornell out shot Clarkson 27-22. Sophomore Jenny Niesluchowski made 18 saves in net for the Big Red while Beru Grandmont made 26 saves for the Golden Knights. The Big Red will stay on the road next weekend to take on Brown and Yale.
