Boxscore

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Senior Stephanie Denino scored her first goal of the season late in the third period to lead the Princeton women's hockey team to a 2-1 win over ninth-ranked Clarkson on Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena. With the win the Tigers finish fifth in the ECAC Hockey standings and will face Clarkson next weekend in the playoffs.

Clarkson scored the game's first goal with 45 seconds left in the first period. The goal came on the power play from Katie Morrison and was set up by Jessica Cloutier and Marie-Jo Gaudet.

Princeton evened the score quickly, knotting the game at 1-1 2:04 into the second period when senior Brittany Salmon found the back of the net at 2:04 with assists from sophomore Julie Flynn and senior Marykate Oakley.

The score remained deadlocked until 16:54 of the third when Denino scored an unassisted shorthanded goal. Princeton held from there to garner a split for the weekend.

Junior Kristen Young made 27 saves in the win as Clarkson outshot Princeton 28-17. The Tigers will travel back to the North Country next weekend for their best of three series.
