Clarkson Too Much for Quinnipiac

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team was defeated by Clarkson 7-1 Friday night at Cheel Arena. Vicky Graham (Glen Riddle, Pa.) scored the Bobcats' lone goal on the power play just before the end of the second period. The goal was the 36th of her career and tied the school's all-time record. The Bobcats dropped to 5-23-5 overall and 2-15-4 in the ECAC with the loss.

After a scoreless first period, the Golden Knights scored five unanswered goals in the second period. Three of Clarkson's four second period goals came with the man advantage.

The Bobcats answered back with a power-play goal of their own 19:29 into the second as Graham scored her fourth of the season. Antoinette Maldonado (Glendora, Calif.) and Trudy Reyns (Port Hope, Ontario) picked up assists as Graham beat Lauren Dahm for the goal.

Tia Wishart (Vancouver Island, British Columbia) recorded 23 saves before being relieved in net by Jamie Miller (Richmond Hill, Ontario) in the second period. Miller stopped 16 of 18 shots she faced in just over 25 minutes of action.

The Bobcats were outshot 46-15 in the game and finished 1-5 on the power play.

Quinnipiac returns to action tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. as they travel to Canton, N.Y. to take on St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena in the final game of the season.
